Iowa did something few states have done: it put judicial AI use in the court rules rather than in a policy document. Chief Justice Christensen signed the order adopting new chapter 27, and the announcement gives an effective date of 1 January 2027.

The chapter is addressed to the bench and to adjudicative assistants, in the performance of adjudicative duties. The mechanism is approval: a judicial branch artificial intelligence innovation and governance committee decides which tools may be used for that work. Nothing in the announcement we read changes what a filer has to disclose.
